The SDK retries transient errors (429, 502, 503, 504 and connection errors) with exponential backoff, or after the server's Retry-After, up to 3 attempts. It does so only for requests that are safe to repeat: every GET, all client.sed calls on the current API (get, submit, source, ...), and submit_batch / batch_infer, which send an Idempotency-Key so that a retry cannot create a second job. The other POSTs are not retried and raise the error at once: modeling.infer, validate_csv, csv_to_json, and the submit request of madam.submit / madam.analyze and of the older sed.prepare / prepare_and_wait (the polling that follows is retried).
